Digestible energy and protein requirements for maintenance and growth of pacu ( Piaractus mesopotamicus ): A factorial approach-based model Scientia Agricola
Aguilar,Fredy Armando Aguilar; Mourão,Gerson Barreto; Cyrino,José Eurico Possebon.
ABSTRACT: Results of nutrient requirements as determined in dose-response trials are valid only for fish within the same size range of that of experimental model fish. This study used the factorial approach to estimate digestible energy (DE) and digestible protein (DP) requirements for maintenance and growth of pacu ( Piaractus mesopotamicus ). Juvenile pacu (63.5 ± 1.27 g) were stocked in a recirculation system (26.89 ± 0.36 °C) for 58 days, and fed two daily meals. One diet contained 6.96 % lipids (LF) and another 9.98 % lipids (HF), both diets formulated to contain 32 % crude protein, theoretical dietary energy level for maintenance (52.23 kJ DE kg−0.80 d−1), in a completely randomized, 2 × 5 factorial experimental design. The apparent digestibility...

Lemos,Marcos Vinicius Antunes de; Arantes,Thiago Quirino; Souto,Cristielle Nunes; Martins,Graciela Pessoa; Araújo,Janaína Gomes; Guimarães,Igo Gomes.
The expansion in the market of ornamental fish depends on the intensification of production systems and the generation of appropriate technologies. Therefore, it is necessary to know the nutritional requirements of each species for the formulation of nutritionally balanced diets. A 30-day feeding trial was undertaken to evaluate the effects of different dietary digestible protein to energy ratio in diets for Betta splendens fingerlings. Fifty-six all-male B. splendens with 1.03 ± 0.11 g average weight were randomly stocked into 56 1L-aquaria in a completely randomized design with a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement, comprising eight treatments and seven replication. Each fish was considered an experimental unit. Diets were formulated to contain 28.0, 35.0, 42.0...

Modeling energy utilization in broiler breeders, laying hens and broilers Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Sakomura,NK.
The factorial approach has been used to partition the energy requirements into maintenance, growth, and production. The coefficients determined for these purposes can be used to elaborate energy requirement models. These models consider the body weight, weight gain, egg production, and environmental temperature to determine the energy requirements for poultry. Predicting daily energy requirement models can help to establish better and more profitable feeding programs for poultry. Studies were conducted at UNESP-Jaboticabal to determine metabolizable energy (ME) requirement models for broiler breeders, laying hens, and broilers. These models were evaluated in performance trials and provided good adjustments. Therefore, they could be used to establish...

Net energy and ractopamine levels for barrows weighing 70 to 100kg Ciência Rural
Gonçalves,Liliane Maria Piano; Kiefer,Charles; Souza,Karina Márcia Ribeiro de; Marçal,Danilo Alves; Abreu,Rodrigo Caetano de; Santos Nieto,Viviane Maria Oliveira dos; Rodrigues,Gabriela Puhl; Alencar,Stephan Alexander da Silva.
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to evaluate net energy and dietary ractopamine levels for barrows weighing 70 to 100kg. The 150 pigs investigated (initial weight 70.80±3.84kg) were distributed in a randomized block design with a 5×3 factorial arrangement, comprising five levels of net energy (2,300; 2,425; 2,550; 2,675; and 2,800Kcal kg-1 of diet) and three levels of ractopamine (5, 10, and 20ppm kg-1 of diet), with five replicates, and two animals per experimental unit. No interaction (P>0.05) was observed between net energy and ractopamine levels. Increasing the dietary net energy levels led to a linear reduction in feed intake, with a linear improvement in feed conversion. Net energy levels had no observable effect (P>0.05) on weight gain,...

Net energy evaluation of feeds and determination of net energy requirements for pigs R. Bras. Zootec.
Noblet,Jean.
Feeds for pigs can be attributed different energy values according to, first, the step considered in energy utilization (DE: digestible energy, ME: metabolizable energy and NE: net energy) and, second, the method used for estimation at each step. Reference methods for evaluating DE content are based on in vivo digestibility measurements; indirect estimates of DE values are obtained from in vitro methods or prediction equations based on chemical characteristics. Methods have also been proposed for estimating urinary energy (and gas energy to a smaller extent) in order to calculate ME content from DE value. The NE values originate from energy balance studies (slaughter methods or, more commonly, indirect calorimetry measurements in respiration chambers) and...

Research on feeding standard of beef cattle and feedstuff database in the Indochinese peninsula OAK
Nishida, T; Suzuki, T; Phaophaisal, I; Pholsen, P; Narmsilee, R; Indramanee, S; Oshio, S; 西田, 武弘.
At Khon Kaen in northeastern Thailand, energy metabolism in cattle was studied by a respiration trial system using a ventilated flow-through method with a face mask built with technical and financial support of Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS). Energy values of locally available feed resources have also been obtained from digestion and respiration trials. JIRCAS also had already completed a new ventilated head-hood apparatus for energy balance trials and started the data accumulation concerning the energy value of Pangola grass (Digitaria eriantha) with Brahman beef steers. As for the energy balance measurement technique, JIRCAS supports the establishment of feeding standard by measuring the energy requirement of...
